I had the amazing opportunity to find several of these Saw Whet owls this winter near my home. Incredibly, I was able to locate them over 10 times int he same two or three trees every time I went back to check. They seem to really gravitate to small dense fir trees near open areas. Many of the time the owl would have a half of mouse in its clutches, ready for the next meal. Although small these owls are incredibly aggressive hunters that roost during daylight hours tuck into the dense branches.
