The Yellow "POSTED" sign has always fascinated me. It's funny how these signs create such a strong sense of both prohibition and intrigue. On one hand, they clearly mark a boundary that shouldn't be crossed. On the other hand, they always spark my curiosity about what lies beyond.
This painting captures this duality. The natural lines drawing the eye towards the gate create a sense of journey, which is then abruptly halted, leaving you with a feeling of finality. It evokes that familiar "grass is greener" feeling. I can't help but imagine the possibilities just out of reach – a hidden trove of morel mushrooms or a collection of shed deer antlers.
But, being the law abiding citizen I keep to my side of the boundary and only intrude with my imagination, and the nagging question, what is out there in the mist.
